BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

OVERVIEW

We're the North’s largest, fully flexible blank canvas multipurpose event venue, with four halls and a combined space of 28,000 sqm. We offer space for conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners and meetings and create tailored or totally bespoke events to bring our clients vision to life.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Business Development Manager, ideally you will have previous experience within the events/hospitality industry, however, this is not essential. Working alongside our senior management team you will develop new business leads, be responsible for obtaining new clients and positively promote EventCity, its USP, its profile, its products and services to the exhibition, conference and gala dinner markets.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key deliverables will include, but not be limited to:

  • Identifying and developing leads using your proactive sales techniques
  • Making at least 10 appointments per week with prospective event organisers – direct & agency prospects
  • Developing and generating enquiries for our sales team to convert
  • Delivering against our brand standards and processes
  • Supporting the EventCity Sales, Events & F&B team in delivering profitable business

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of the events sector
  • Good understanding of the consultative sales process
  • Experience of managing venue diaries
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Understanding of catering and production services including AV.
  • Understanding of event profit and loss
  • Microsoft software – Word, Excel

To succeed in this role, you will need to have an in-depth understanding of exhibitions, large scale conferences and gala dinners. The ideal candidate must have strong previous sales experience and be an accomplished networker. Candidates must be commercially aware, proactive, self-motivated and hardworking individuals. As a Business Development Manager, you must be a strong communicator, well organised and dependable.
