Working Together For A Sustainable Future

Here at EventCity we are totally committed to sustainability, we already operate a range of sustainability initiatives. Our target for the future is to celebrate Certified Sustainable Venue status (ISO20121).

Waste reduction

Over 98% of waste generated on site is diverted from landfill, with 69% being recycled and 29% turned into energy. Our next target is 0% waste to landfill.  We have separate recycling streams for paper, cardboard, wood, glass and fluorescent tubes. We are also investigating an innovative food waste recycling scheme which in the future would fertilise our flower beds, which would be pollinated from our bees.  All part of our sustainable future planning.

Transport sustainability:

We always recommend sustainable options for reaching our venue: the correct bus, walking, cycling routes and water taxi stops. The new Metrolink Trafford Park Line tram connection will be completed in September 2020, making it even easier to get to us from the airport.

Disabled facilities:

EventCity is all on one level, so makes getting around a little easier.  We have disabled facilities, parking spaces and drop-off points. If there’s anything we can do to help you with your visit please let us know by emailing

We are proud to take a leadership position on these issues, chairing the Trafford Impact Group which brings together local businesses, sports facilities, retailers and emergency services to share information on footfall and traffic movement and to manage congestion issues together. We are also founding members of the Green Business membership scheme.

At EventCity we know that Manchester is a very special place; rich in history and heritage. The home of inspirational people, exciting inventions and key moments in UK history, we want Manchester to continue to be a brilliant place to live, work and play.

To support this goal we are working on local projects in partnership with TRAFFORDCITY, the intu Trafford Centre, MediaCityUK and Quays Culture to enable our environment to flourish and prosper.

Making a difference:

As part of our commitment to our community, we source regional and local produce supporting small artisanal suppliers that can scale to our needs wherever  possible. We also participate in local initiatives that benefit the environment and community and prioritise charitable giving.

Our staff choose North West-based charities to support which are close to their hearts. Our charities are Once Upon A Smile, Charcot- Marie-Tooth UK and The Christie.

We are proud to support these local charities and help people who really need it.
